Bob Voglin -
The Arden Taylor Surf Benefit VI is to benefit Bob Voglin. During Thanksgiving at the age of 54, Bob was diagnosed with tongue and lymph node cancer. By the time Christmas was approaching, the lump was the size of an egg. He had 35 days of radiation and 2 series of chemo in San Luis Obisbo. The radiation burnt out his throat and made it impossible to eat or drink, so he was given a stomach tube to be fed by. Bob then developed problems with hydration and blood clots and had to be hospitalized 3 different times. 30 lymph nodes were removed from his neck and thankfully it didn't cause any damage to his shoulder muscle. In August, Bob had his first PET scan. This determines if cancer is present. Good news - results were negative. He'll have another test in February and then every 6 months for the next 3 years.
Bob is a member of the Estero Bay Surf Club. He likes really BIG waves! He'll go out anywhere, anytime, and worries about it later. This explains his past success at the Big Bad & Ugly surf contest. Bob is a fun person to surf with. He likes style with his waves and he likes waves with size. Get to know him and you've got a friend for life.
Bob and his wife Nancy will be staying in a suite, compliments of the Holiday Inn, Ventura, and are looking forward to meeting everyone at this great event.
